Most college students have dealt with it, and for those of us who have we're jealous of those who didn't. Choosing a major is the biggest decision of your college career, since you're choosing what you want to do with the rest of your life. And while we'd all like to believe that we have all the time in the world to make this decision, we really don't and during this time most people are filled with anxiety about the decision.
1. You're worried about getting behind.
Like I said we really don't have all the time in the world to decide on a major, and the longer you wait the further behind you can get on your major. While all majors have core classes that you have to take, not all majors have the same core classes, or many core classes at all for that matter. That's why its best to try and decide your major when you're a freshman, and your core classes are a definite thing.
2. What if I'm choosing the wrong thing?
Oh college, the land make believe and what if's. And one of the biggest what if's, is the "What if I chose a different major?", "What if I'm meant to do something different with my life". Lets be honest, those what if's get you nowhere fast and just make you more stressed out by the situation. Don't question every little thing you do, just do everything to the best of your ability and go with the flow.
3. Will I be able to find a job when I get out of college?
When thinking about what you want to do, thinking to the future is always a good thing. But, stressing over every little detail isn't. You should have an idea of the job you want to do, what it takes to get that job, and how competitive the field for that job is but in reality you won't know the truth until you really get out there and start job hunting. So to basis your decision on this really isn't smart, if we all went by this we'd all choose much safer (and boring) routes for our degrees. But we'd also end up in a job that we probably wouldn't like very much.
