Fall break is over (almost) and if you're like me, you haven't done half of the work you wanted to do over this week. For me, that was homework, internship applications, getting ahead on reading, and studying for the test on the first day back (yikes!).
Here are three things I'm doing to make sure I don't get overwhelmed over the rest of the semester.
1. Making a master list of stuff to do (WITH DUE DATES)
I'm making a master list of things to do with the dates that they are due so I know which to work on first. Otherwise, I would tend to do the stuff that I enjoy.
2. Separating this master list into categories
I'm separating the list into categories like "academic" and "extracurricular" and "applications" so I can see how much time I'm giving to each.
3. Color coding them into "flexible" and "inflexible"
Some things I have to do have inflexible due dates (for example that test on the first day back). Other things, like working on my resume, for example, have flexible due dates (ideally, I get it done as soon as possible, but it should be sometime before December for applications).
