3 Things You Need To Stop Saying To Girls Without Fathers
Taylor Green

It quite honestly doesn't matter how or when but there are several girls without fathers. We can't change that.

YOU however, as a friend, family member, co worker or even acquaintance, can do something.

CUT THE CRAP AND LISTEN UP!

Quit making assumptions based on a situation you know nothing about. quit grouping us together as if we're all in some club and have weekly meetings and are the exact same person...we're not. We're human. Shocker right?

1. Stop telling us what we can't or won't do.

My lack of a father has no effect on what I will accomplish in my life. It doesn't define who I am, unless I choose for it to. How dare you try to define who I am based on such negativity? Last time I checked I am in complete control of my life, not you. Honestly I wish you could understand how ridiculous this is. What if I were to tell you that because you don't have a sister you won't go to college? Your lack of a sister has made you a person with limited ambition and there's no way you would ever make it.

Get my point? Ridiculous.

2. You're just another statistic.

I'm sorry excaaaaahhhhuuuuseeeee me?!?! And you're just another jerk. I am not a number. I am hardworking, respectable and genuine human being. Do not belittle me based on someones lack of involvement that I had no control over. I'm not a statistic. I am a girl who broke each and every statistic an idiot like you tried to label her with.

3. Anything pertaining to or involving "Daddy Issues".

The idea of degrading someone and saying something is wrong with them because they don't have a father is probably one of the most disturbing things I have ever heard of. Yes there are girls that struggle with relationships because of their past without or sometimes even with a father. To make a joke of that and to use it against someone as if you have "dirt" on them truly makes you one of the lowest of the lows in my book.

To any girl who has ever heard any of these:

I am so incredibly sorry that you have at one point encountered someone who is such an imbecile. I am sorry that someone who was lacking so much in their life decided to beat you down with the minor thing you lack in their life simply because they had nothing better to do. That being said, you are smart enough and strong enough to realize how irrelevant these opinions are. Let their words be fuel to your fire. Turn their can'ts in to cans and their won'ts into wills. Never let someone else define who you are or what you can do.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
