As we move through life every decision we make can totally change who we become. In life I strive to be the best I can, life is too short to be wandering around with out any intentions or goals in life. The life you dreamed of is attainable as long as you are willing to work for them. Here are 3 quick steps to living an epic life!

1. Get Organized!

Organization is key to having a productive life. It should be in every area of your life. It is really easy to have a clean room, but miss every appointment you have scheduled. Learn what works best for you and organize to fit how you operate. Many times people will organize how they have seen other places, but that is not necessarily the best for you. That also goes for planners just something that will keep you on top of your daily errands and task. Once you find what works for you make sure you stay consistent. Consistency is key, it will make organization a habit, which in turn will make it a life style.

2. Be Willing to Try New Things!

This one sounds pretty basic. However it is much needed. When you try new things it is a way to truly stretch yourself . The best part is you learn more about yourself. I personally tried a new genre of music on pandora and absolutely fell in love. I thought I was pretty set in my ways but I was opened to another side of myself through this music. It was no longer about the beat or rythm but mostly about the lyrics. I felt like I was able to experience music differently and get back to the root of what it is all about. However your experience may be different but is the experince where you grow. Being epic you take risk, even though trying a new genre of music, different type of food, or traveling somewhere new it is was about the experince. Each experience gives you more confidence to try something else down the road.

3. Get Quality Sleep

This one I can not stress enough! You can not be great if you are tired. Sleep is so vital to your success. It is literally what keeps us going. Sleep is so important as it gives you the energy needed to function. Each person is different on exactly how much sleep is perfect for them, but it is usually suggested to get around 8 hours of sleep. Now that sounds like a lot but if you go to sleep at 11pm and wake up at 7 am that is totally doable. However I realize life happens and for whatever getting 8 hours a night is a stretch. If that is you just strive for a consistent amount of sleep every night. If you are short on sleep maybe even try to schedule a nap in your day to keep your body and your mind healthy.

All in all living an epic life means finding yourself. Whatever you do just remember these three steps and you will be able to achieve all of your goals.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
