With the holidays coming in, one of the things we can't stop thinking about is all of the wonderful and delicious food we will all devour during the merry season. This season is a time to get excited for the recipes our families will be trying out this holiday break. I know that I can hardly wait. I may not be an experienced or even talented cook at times, but I do love to experiment with some of the traditional holiday recipes. Here are some knock-your-socks-of recipes to try this Christmas season.

1) Popcorn Nut Holiday Celebration

The holiday season calls for sweet and salty snacks. This recipe is the perfect snack fest when you and your family are sitting watching the football game. It caters to those wanting something salty and those wanting something sweet! You can find this recipe on Taste of Home website!

The ingredients you will need are:

12 cups of popped popcorn, 2 cups of miniature pretzels, 1 cup of roasted pecan halves, 1/4 cup of melted butter, 4 oz. of white candy coating, coarsely chopped, and 2 oz. milk chocolate candy coating, coarsely chopped.

Directions: Step 1) In a large bowl, combine the popcorn, pretzels, pecans and bitter. Lightly toss and set aside till later. Step 2) Microwave the white candy for about a minute in 10-20 second intervals until smooth, drizzle over the popcorn and toss to coat. Spread on foil covered baking sheet. Step 3) Microwave the white chocolate until smooth and drizzle onto the popcorn. Let cool to let the chocolate set. And enjoy!

2) Poppers With A Kick

For those who enjoy the spicy sensations of Jalapeño Poppers, here is a great and easy holiday appetizer recipe. These are always a crowd pleaser! The recipe can be found on Kraftrecipes.com

The ingredients you will need are:

8 or 10 jalapeno peppers, 8 oz. cream cheese, softened, 2 tablespoons green onion, chopped, 1 teaspoon garlic, minced, 1 teaspoon salt, 6 oz. queso fresco cheese or fresh mozzarella, and 10 slices bacon cut in half

Directions: Step 1: Cut peppers length wise or hotdog style, and remove seeds and white fleshy parts. Step 2: Blend cream cheese, green onions, garlic, and salt. Add cream cheese mixture to peppers. Step 3: Crumble and add Queso Fresca Cheese. Wrap bacon around pepper and secure with toothpick. Be careful not to prick your fingers! Step 4: Place poppers onto a heavy baking sheet and preheat oven to 375 degrees. Step 5: cook for 20 25 minutes. And let the savory sensations rock your taste buds!

3) Calling All Slaw Lovers

This is my personal favorite! I have noticed over the years that only a few restaurants can really pull off a great coleslaw. I found this recipe off of the Walmart website and if you love slaw like I do, this is a recipe you must try. The Ranch-Style Bacon Coleslaw will bring out those southern roots deep inside you.

The ingredients you will need are: 1 package (16 oz.) coleslaw blend (cabbage slaw mix), 4 slices Oscar Mayer cooked bacon crumbled and 1/2 cup Kraft Classic Ranch Dressing. That's right, you only need 3 ingredients! This is a fast and easy recipe, anyone can handle it.

Directions: All you do is combine it all and then you have the best Coleslaw in town!

I hope these fast and easy recipes will help those holiday parties go smoother and faster. Enjoy and good luck with preperations!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
