Bundled up in those adorable booties and the faux fur sweater, next to your hunny, by a warm campfire, you are basically the epitome of Winter. Marshmallows are roasting and you are surrounded by friends but you can't seem to get something off of your mind: the cold. Your nose is impossible to warm as you try and burry it in your scarf because you are just a little too far from the flames. Your knees, on the other hand, are basically on fire since they lie the closest to the warmth. You can see your breath and there may even be snow, which may all be super cool... for five minutes until some snow falls into your boot and your socks get wet. The hot cocoa you started to sip was a little too hot so you definitely burned your tongue. The Ideal image of a perfect winter night is just truly flawed which is why the time of year when the earth and Sun are in closer proximity is, quite obviously, the best time of the year.

1. The beach, the lake, and the pool

Listed above are three reasons in one: water. When the weight of the world gets too heavy there is literally nothing that diving deep into a large body of water cannot fix. Plus, bikinis and board shorts never get old. Those campfires we talked about earlier are so much more fun in the sand when their sheer purpose is to illuminate the friends you've surrounded yourself with, rather than heat alone. So whether we plan on jumping in a pool, off a boat, or even to some conclusions, it's a whole lot more fun in the summertime.

2. Frozen margaritas and lemonade

Over the summer ladies are either keeping it PG with some ice cold lemonade, or R rated with some frozen margaritas. Regardless of what's in their cup, the pool boy is probably what's on their mind. Some of the guys are busy trying not to drool as they check out hot moms in bikinis and others are busy staring through their sunglasses as they walk by. The lemonade stands draw people in and the margaritas keep them around. Plus, let's face it, no frozen drink is inviting if the weather is below 70.

3. School's out for summer!

For moms and dads this may not be the best news, but for anyone from grades k-college love the ideas of a freaking BREAK! Fall is cool when you get to see your friends for the first time after break but that quickly fades. No excitement is comparable to the last day of school before a few months of sun and vacation.

There truly is no time like the summertime.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.
