3 Reasons Why I Love Fall

Here are three reasons why the Fall season puts me in a great mood.

It’s that time of the year where the weather is a little colder (in some cases, a lot colder, and that too, at random times), the trees are changing color (even though it seemed to go from green to red, yellow, and orange in an instant), and the riding boots, vests, and pea coats make their way out of the closet. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year for various reasons so I hope I can get you in the mood by sharing my thoughts. So here are three reasons why I love fall!

1. Change Is In the Air

The way the weather and leaves change, I feel a certain level of freshness that no other season gives me. While many people feel the spring cleaning mood, I always feel the fall cleaning mood. The drastic change between summer and fall makes me think about changes I want to make in my life and how I want to wrap the year up and what I want for the next year. It makes me put my entire world in perspective and although sometimes that’s scary, it’s also ensuring in a way. It makes me feel confident that things won’t always be the same way and change is just around the corner.

2. Comfort in Warmth

When the weather gets colder, I pull out my scarves, coats, and boots which my mother knows are the three articles of clothing I will spend the most amount of money on. I am that person who loves the long socks and riding boots combo, the vest, the infinity scarf, and cups of coffee. There is a comfort in the warmth and it makes me understand that no matter how difficult things are, there’s a small amount of comfort that I can bring for myself. I have to find the comfort in the discomfort and create my own warmth.

3. Ringing in the Holidays

I am not ashamed to admit that I listen to Christmas music as early as the summer. The holidays put me in the best mood and fall means that the holidays are about to make its landfall. Once the holidays start, I know I anticipate the sadness when it’s over, so fall is the perfect time to just be excited the Christmas is coming.

Whether you like fall or not, each season brings its own magic. What I have learned over the years is that each season has its pros and cons. Summer is warm but it can also be hot, humid and stormy. The winter is dreary and cold but it can be fun when the snow is covering the ground and you have a few days off of school or work.

Seasons help me realize that waiting for “something better” is wasting my time in the present, because the grass will always seem greener on the other side. Instead, trying to find the beauty in the moment just makes me happier and why would I not choose to be happy now than wait to see I’m happy in the future?

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
