Three Reasons Why I'm A Christian Summer Camp Counselor

I know people think being a Christian summer camp counselor doesn't sound fun, but it is a blast! Showing love and having other counselors show their love and joy to the campers that week at camp is the biggest blessing of all times. Like it says in Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." Being a Christian summer camp counselor is the thing I look forward to every summer. Below are three reasons why I enjoy what I do...

1. I love sharing the word of God with hundreds of campers every year and making an impact on their young lives.

At the summer camp I work at, I get a group of 12 young girls for a whole week. I get to pour my heart out to these young girls and watch them grow in trust and faith with Our Father God. We have a Bible verse that we work on throughout the week, teach Bible stories/lessons, all while having fun around the camp grounds. Doing all the activities around camp and watching them jump off the Power Pole or go on the Zipline, puts a smile on my face. Knowing when I was younger, I had an amazing camp counselor that made an impact on my live and made me want to be just as impacting in these girl's lives. As a counselor you never know what is going on at home and being the smiles they see every day makes me light up and full of so much joy.

2. Watching the campers running around camp with a huge smile on their faces.

Like I mentioned earlier, enjoying the time spent with the young girls for a week and watching them use their faith and trust in completing the activities that might scare them. Being that encouragement in their lives and the happiness that the camper sees when they get off the zipline or ropes course. Sometimes young girls have a fear of heights and giving them the hope and encouragement that they can do it probably means a lot to them. I learned so much about myself during my weeks at camp with these young girls. I learn to believe for big things just like these little girls do. Being an example for these little girls and showing them how to be a good Christian girl is one of my goals during the week. I wish that I could be the first person to do all of the hard activities at camp to show them that there is nothing to be afraid of.

3. Working with the greatest counselors and administration on the planet.

I have always heard that at a Christian summer camp you will meet the most amazing people on the earth including the administration. I never knew how much they would impact my life just like I impact my little girls lives. Every summer, there are always new counselors and we welcome them with open arms and nothing less. We are one family and together we can overcome anything, watching the other counselors playing with their campers on a muddy day, those campers have the biggest happy on their face. I have learned so much from the administration about how to love on my campers in an incredible way no matter how many weeks they will be at camp. The administration put a lot of work in during the school year to prepare to make the coming up summer the BEST SUMMER ever in these campers lives. I look up to every counselors and administration that is on staff. Keep up the awesome job!

You get to check things off of your requirement checklist. It's an opportunity for a fresh start with new classes (which you tell yourself you'll never skip.) This process, which always starts out so optimistic, can get frustrating really quickly. Here are 25 thoughts you have when registering for classes.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
