3 Reasons Why I Can't Stop My Coffee Addiction

I started drinking coffee a couple of years ago, and I honestly cannot stop. I have coffee every morning, and sometimes more than once a day. I know that coffee may not be the healthiest beverage in the world, but it makes me very happy. Therefore, I will continue with my coffee addiction until I get tired of it. However, I really do not see that happening. Instead of trying to get rid of my addiction, I have accepted the fact that it will always be part of who I am.

So here's why I just cannot stop...

1. Coffee has gotten me through some of my hardest academic years

Coffee and academics go great together in my book. My last two years of high-school, I participated in a dual enrollment program. It was the best. I took challenging college courses, got out of school early, and had so much free time. During much of my free time, the only thing that got me motivated to use my time wisely was coffee. Sounds crazy? I know. However, think about it. How can you not go to a coffee shop, sit down with your coffee, and not feel the obligation to be productive? Not only did it help me be productive, but it helped me get through many of my exams. Just the feeling of waking up before an exam and having a nice cup of coffee is one of the best feelings in the world to me. Last but not least, coffee became an essential "comfort drink" for me during the school years. Coffee could be used for comfort in so many ways during the school year. Ace a test? Celebrate with coffee. Fail a test? Grieve with coffee. Trying to overcome the feeling of procrastination? Get your books together and have a coffee. Need I say more? Coffee is just amazing. Now that I am about to go off to college, I think that my coffee addiction based on the academic side of my life will only get worse.

2. Coffee gives me the energy that I need

Each morning that I have my coffee, I instantly feel so refreshed and energized. I usually stay up really late and get up really early for work. Therefore, I just cannot skip coffee in the morning. Skipping coffee? I could never. I think that maybe if I went to bed earlier, then I would not be so dependent on my coffee in the mornings. However, I really do not think that will happen anytime soon... so I might as well enjoy my morning caffeine rides while I can.

3. I work at a local coffee shop

Here's a plot twist you probably did not expect. I work at a coffee shop. I am surrounded by all of the espresso and coffee you could ever think of. Enough said.

In all honesty, I really do not want my coffee addiction to come to an end. Coffee is probably one of the few things that can brighten my mood no matter the circumstances. You know what they say...it is the little things in life that can make a difference. Coffee would be that little thing for me, and it sure does make a difference.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!
