3 Reasons Why Billie Eilish Is My Newest Obsession

In This Article:

Billie Eilish is one of the newest, yet one of the most popular singer-songwriters in America. She is known not only for her young age of only seventeen, but she is known for her style of music that can be described as the new "anti-pop." I do not think I have ever listened to an artist and connected with them so well based solely on the lyrics of their song. However, Billie Eilish is the one exception. I can confidently say that Billie Eilish is my newest obsession, and I have no shame about it.

1. Billie Eilish has a voice like no other.

Billie Eilish has a voice that cannot be described. However, I can tell you that if you ever heard any of her songs, you would easily be able to distinguish her voice from others. It is almost as if her songs are so effortless, yet you are able to feel every emotion in every single lyric that she sings. I love her voice not only because of how it sounds but also because of the way that it makes me feel. Many people describe her music as the new "anti-pop" or some may even call it "depressing." However, I can play any song by Billie Eilish and feel emotions that I did not even know I had. Her voice really brings out the connection between one's body and mind.

2. I am always able to connect with the lyrics of her songs.

No matter the song, I always feel as though Billie Eilish has written her song specifically for me (crazy, I know). For example, in high-school I never liked to really go out and party with my friends, because I felt as though everyone was too drunk to even realize what was going on. I honestly felt as though people were not seeing the big picture when it came to getting too intoxicated or high. People smoking and drinking have never bothered me, however when they become unaware of their own actions when under the influence of such things that is when I become upset and annoyed. Fast-forward to listening to Billie Eilish's new album, and I find a song called "Xanny." (Stop what you are doing, go listen to the song, and then finish reading) "Xanny" is a song that describes my attitude toward partying so well. I do not want to be a "spoiler" for anyone about the song, but if you ever feel like nobody understands you, I highly recommend listening to ANY of her songs but specifically "Xanny."

3. Billie Eilish has such an "unknown" personality.

Giphy

Nobody knows who Billie Eilish really is. She has so many different styles and moods that you could not possibly figure it out. However, that is why I love her. You can never be too sure or assume anything about her, because once you do... she gives you so many reasons to think otherwise. Genius!

Please, go listen to her album or actually any of her songs. I promise you will not regret it.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
