I like to think of myself as lucky to have four younger siblings, ages 3, 6, 7, and 8. While the age gap between us may be large, it has never bothered me. All of my siblings are adopted, but I would never think of them any less just because they aren't biologically related to me. Adoption is such a beautiful thing, and the negative stigma around it needs to go away.
1. Foster care and orphanages aren't always the best option for kids.
I'm not trying to bash the foster care system or orphanages, because they are essential to kids without families, however, the options don't always offer the best kind of love and support kids need. Adoption allows kids to come out of foster care or an orphanage and that can mean so much to them.
2. You can give a child a life they wouldn't have.
Whether it is something as small as signing them up for extra-curricular sports teams to being able to send them to college one day, there is so many things kids don't get the opportunities to experience due to their home life.
3. Kids can get their forever family.
Imagine if you didn't have your family. I know I couldn't. There is millions of kids around the world that don't have a family of their own, but adoption can make that happen.
Adoption is definitely not for everybody, but anyone can support those who choose to adopt. Adoption isn't bad, it is a beautiful thing.
