With the election coming up, I keep hearing people saying how they aren't going to vote because "both candidates suck." While I'm all for breaking the two party system and electing someone other than Clinton or Trump, not voting isn't the way to do it. Here are 5 reasons why you should vote:
1. Its your right and privilege.
Not everyone can vote. Not everyone has the chance to decide their fate. Some people around the world do not get ANY say in what happens in their government. It is a privilege living in America to be able to vote.
2. Not voting is the same as voting for the candidate you dislike more.
If you hate one person over the other, then vote for the one you hate less. Not voting is giving your vote to the person you despise more. And if its a tie, still vote. Write in who you think would be best.
3. If you hate all parties as people, then vote per issue.
It's clear which candidates in the 2016 election have priorities and which do not. It's also clear which ones are taking issues seriously such as climate change, human rights, affordable medicare, etc. If you hate the person as a person then vote based on the issue they address. If you care about human rights, don't vote Trump. Simple.
