3 Reasons It's Always Worth It To Take The Time To Travel

The first trip I took was when I was about one or two years old. I went to Hawaii to visit family. Although I don't remember the trip, ever since then I've always wanted to travel. I love experiencing new places, cultures, meeting new people, and having a good time.

Here are a few reasons why I believe traveling is important.

Experiencing a Different Culture

Getting to experience a different culture is defiantly eye-opening. When I went to Japan, even small cultural things were different, like not talking on the trains or buses, saying "thank you for the meal" before and after eating, to taking your shoes off upon entering a house. It's good to learn about new cultures.

Seeing a New Area

The world is a beautiful place, and there are many beautiful places to see. We don't have to go to a different country or even state to see this, maybe in the next town over. I've taken day trips to visit a town in my state, and while I wasn't there for long I still felt very fulfilled afterward.

Getting Out of your Comfort Zone

Putting yourself in an unfamiliar area gets you out of your comfort zone. You're forced to rely on yourself and whoever you're with, to get around and ask for help. If you're alone, traveling will also help grow your independence.

Traveling helps get you out of your comfort zone, will let you see wonderful places, and will let you experience a new culture. You don't need to go far in order to travel, just going to a new area and seeing what's around you is still traveling.

Thanksgiving Break is most likely everyone’s favorite break during the fall semester. You get to go home and reminisce with all your high school friends. That diet you’ve been on for the past month goes out the window, and you get to eat until you put yourself into a food coma. There’s no rush on homework and you can just lie in bed and Netflix to your heart’s content. To me that sounds like an ideally wonderful break, and totally stress-free.

Grey's Anatomy

Even Shonda Rhimes, winning creator and executive producer of the hit TV shows Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and The Catch agrees that relationships with fictional characters are real. In her book, The Year of Yes she states, "I have spent more time with Meredith and Christina then many of my actual friends...When you watched TV, even spending a full hour with Christina once a week, you were likely spending more time with her then you spent with most people in your life. That relationship was real."

Going to the gym and working out on a daily basis (with breaks once in awhile) has been a great way for me to feel good about myself. It is 100% more than just looking good. Especially after starting college and having the stress and anxiety of tests, assignments, and just figuring out my future, the gym at my school has definitely been a place of relief for me and I have numerous reasons of why everyone should push themselves to get to the gym when they can.
