1. All people with tattoos are either dirty or thugs.
Tattoos and other body modifications are a sure-fire way of knowing that someone is a bad person without even talking to them. If a potential employee walks into an interview, dressed in a nice suit with good hygiene, always check for some sort of body modification first. If they have a visible tattoo, you should just end the interview right then and there. Tattoos and piercings mean that the potential employee has no concern for what others think of them. There is no need to check their job experience, resume, or qualifications; they are unprofessional and probably involved in illegal activities because they have a tattoo. I mean, only 61% of people in the U.S.A. have tattoos or piercings. With a small percentage like that, we should be wary of those who do choose to modify their bodies.
2. Tattoos reflect poor decision-making.
People with tattoos often prove to be bad at decision-making. If they are willing to put a piece of artwork on their body forever, they must have a hard time choosing right from wrong. Regardless of whether it is a tattoo that they have is in memory of someone, something that has symbolism to them, or is just a pretty piece of art that they liked, you should absolutely judge someone’s decision to get a tattoo and question their morals, because tattoos are evil. If you hire one person with tattoos, then other people in your company would see that tattoos are acceptable and may even be influenced to get their own. This can ruin your companies image, since tattoos mean that someone is not capable of doing their job.
3. Tattoos just aren't your taste.
If tattoos aren’t your taste, you should absolutely reserve the right to not hire someone because of them. Just because the tattoos aren’t on your body doesn’t mean your image and reputation won’t be tarnished by hiring them. As an employer, your taste in appearance should definitely be a part of the hiring process. Are they qualified? Sure, but you don’t like how they look, so why hire them?
As you can probably tell, this article is satire and does not reflect my personal opinions. Tattoo acceptability in the workplace has been a debate since the art of tattooing became popular and it is ridiculous to not hire someone simply for the art they have on their body or how they choose to express themselves. In modern society, the acceptance of tattoos continues to grow and more jobs are willing to hire people with body modifications. However, there is still a stigma with heavily tattooed individuals and whether or not they are hirable. There are many jobs and workplaces that will not allow for employees to show visible tattoos, regardless of whether they are offensive or not. Employers often claim to worry about a person’s decision-making skills and their companies image when explaining why they don’t want to hire people with tattoos. I’m confident that as we progress as a society, tattoos and other body modifications will become even more acceptable in the workplace and tattooed people won’t have to worry that the reason they were not hired was because of their tattoos or piercings. Tattoos and body modifications don’t reflect a person’s qualifications and prior job experiences and hopefully more employers will come to realize that.
