3 Reasons To Become A Dog Mom In College
Bambi Condrey

Whenever I was first considering getting a dog, everyone was absolutely against it except a select few that actually agreed that I should get a dog. Then I decided to get a puppy Boykin Spaniel and name her Harper Lee (I know I could have picked a calmer puppy, but nope!). I called and put a deposit down without telling anyone!

Getting my sweet girl was the best decision I ever have made. She drives me absolutely nuts sometimes but being a dog mom is so much fun!

1. You can always go on new adventures!

Now I catch myself and my roommates asking,"where can we go that we can take our dogs?" Or, "let's do something this weekend and take the puppies!" Greenwood just got a new dog park and the Grace Street Track is around the pond so that is always fun! Also, there are plenty of restaurants that allow you to eat outside and you can totally bring your dogs to eat! Also, for those of you that are broke along with the rest of the college student population, Bruster's gives a puppy a free ice cream sundae... and experience that is our girl's favorite treat of the week!

2. Another reason to go shopping!

TJ Maxx and Ross have become very dear to my heart ever since I became a dog mom! I go in looking for a toy or some sort of accessory that Harper needs, and I can also browse through clothes for myself while I'm there! Also the K-Mart in Greenwood is closing, so their dog stuff is super cheap and on sale!

3. Dog Mom For Life!

I never realized how cute and cuddly puppies can be, but also how annoyed I can get with my puppy within seconds. I guess that's the 6th sense that I've gained. When I am having a long day at work or school, I know I can always count on Harper waiting for me to come home and being so excited to see me each and every time. My roommates and I have three dogs total in our house and when people ask if we want to go out or what were doing, usually the answer is, "Oh we're staying in," or, "We are playing with our dogs." I have realized that my little girl has kept me out of some trouble and I am totally okay with that! The memories and craziness in my life would never be the same without my Harper Lee!

So, my fellow college-aged friends, get a dog regardless of its age! It is so much fun and so worth it! I promise you will never regret it!

Sincerely,

Your fellow Dog Mom.

On the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf is an icon. She's what every girl aspires to be. She's beautiful, confident, and can handle any obstacle that life throws at her. Sure, she may just be a television character. But for me, she's a role model and theres a lot that can be learned from Queen B.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
