3 Reasons Mental Health Should Be Emphasized In Schools

1. Everyone is affected by it

Everybody in the world has their own set of emotions. Knowing how these emotions affect someone on a personal level will help people understand one another and help create better unity. Having knowledge about mental health can help not only you, but someone who is dealing with their own personal problem.

2. Being mentally healthy will increase quality of life

Knowing what's going on when a situation occurs will give anyone an added peace of mind. It's no different for mental health. Knowing the signs for when something out of the norm is happening will lead to just enjoying life with less worrying.

3. People find mentally healthy people more enjoyable

People tend to enjoy being around people who are positive, don't over react in situations and are friendly to approach. These people tend to have good mental health. Learning about what good mental health is can lead to more being enjoyable to be around.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated.
