Last week Instagram introduced a new feature called Instagram Stories. This new features seems to copy Snapchat, a social media site in which users can upload pictures and videos that last for 24 hours. Instagram Stories are exactly the same as Snapchat Stories, except for the filters like the infamous dog face. Instagram users are unsure of what to call this new feature. InstaSnap, InstaSnapchatGram, and GramChat are just a few of the names that people are calling the new feature.

Unlike some people, I love this new feature of Instagram. I am probably one of the small percent of people who still use Facebook faithfully. Instagram comes second to Facebook for me. I can go days, weeks, and maybe even a month without checking Snapchat. Snapchat takes too long to load, and it kills my phone battery. Instagram, on the other hand, loads quickly and barely takes any of my battery power. We should all be using this new feature of Instagram, and here’s why.

1. This new feature allows you to have two social media sites in one.

With Instagram Stories, you can capture moments that you plan to keep for only a short time and you have the option to add it to your regular Instagram profile. This will give your phone more space because you will not have to screenshot a picture or download a video from Snapchat to put on Instagram. Everything is all in one.

2. Most people have more followers on Instagram and this allows you to connect to more people.

My first day of using InstaSnap I had over 100 views. The most views that I get on Snapchat is about 50. That is a reflection of how many people I follow. I am able to connect with more people because easy way to gain more followers on Instagram. On Snapchat you have to search for new users, but on Instagram you can find people through other’s pictures, the discover page, Instagram suggestions, and Facebook. I can connect with people I haven’t seen in years. Snapchat is more for an inner circle of people you know. Instagram is for everyone you have ever met.

3. You can also connect with more celebrities.

As a huge Rihanna fan, I hope that she embraces this new feature of Instagram. She doesn’t use Snapchat that much, but she always posts pictures and videos on Instagram. In addition to Rihanna, I have so far been able to get to know other celebrities and basketball that I do not follow on Snapchat better.

Instagram Stories does seem like Instagram just plagiarized Snapchat, but it was a great move for Instagram. The only problem with it is that Snapchat didn’t think to partner with Instagram to do it.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
