If you yourself know anything about psychology, you'd understand the impressive analytical tactics behind the weirdly, master-minded, Freud. Sigmund Freud was a neurologist and treated his patients through dialogue. Freudian's know that he, Sigmund Freud, viewed dreams as “the royal road” to the unconscious and he himself developed dream interpretation, as a way of tapping into this state of being.
However, I, myself, find that Freud's viewing is a bit off. I like to hang-tight with Carl Jung's theories on dreams. Jung's beliefs are the same as Freud's, for the most part. Jung however, believed in external senses and viewed dreams as windows. It is just down-right startlingly that a psychologist can analyze forms of symbolism from a pinpointed, particular dream and relate it back to your reality. I myself question what more is out there in this universe that is so magnetic and powerful.
If you think about it, dreams are created through thoughts but yet we ourselves can not control our night-terrors, night-mares, and regular scattered "dreams". Are we in control of our dreams, or is a 2nd party or even a 3rd party playing a role? I guess we'll never know the answer fully- thus, we must solve it by simply being in that state of mind, dreaming.
1) Next time you have a dream, analyze the significance it may be playing in your day to day reality. Is there something that you think about day-in and day out that pops up during a dream, or is it a mixture of inner deep thoughts scattered with emotions? One of my psychology professors once suggested to keep a "dream diary" and although I never part-took in this activity, it might help one understand themselves better.
Quick Facts
- As with most common dream themes, falling is an indication of insecurities, instabilities, and anxieties.
- Dreams about finding yourself suddenly pregnant often mean that an aspect of yourself or some aspect of your personal life is growing and developing, one that you may not be ready to take public yet or a fear of new responsibilities.
- If you're dreaming about your crush/significant other on an ongoing basis, it means that not only are you probably thinking about them during the day, but you also have a desire to express your true feelings to them, and your subconscious is telling you to just go for it already. Also...dreams about infidelity are rarely about cheating, but rather more about your own feelings of insecurity.
2) Your mind is a powerful and adaptable machine. If you find yourself constantly setting personal standards unbelievably low or unrealistically high, the constant over-drive you place yourself in can wear and tear your down. Instead, try placing your head on your pillow restfully, knowing you lived your day to the best of your ability. If there is something on your chest that is holding you back from living, write it down or talk it out. Be at peace with your mind, soul and body, pray, love and be cheerful.
3) So, keep dreaming. Your dreams are filled with so many unanswered questions. Solve them. Create them. Acquiring the ability to interpret your dreams is a powerful tool.“I had the strangest dream!” Have you ever wondered what that crazy dream you had last night really means?
