Many college students have the idea in their heads that being in a relationship is bad thing. This idea stems from the belief that you have to be single to be able to fully experience college and have the ability to do whatever and whoever you want. I agree that college is a time for fun, freedom, and to find yourself, but once that all gets boring, and it will, it's okay to let yourself actually fall for someone.
I was once one of those people who thought I had to stay single. However, I grew up and realized that having a boyfriend in college comes with some major perks. So, when you get tired of the Tally single life, here are a few things you have to look forward to.
1. Having someone to split food, because you're ballin' on that college budget.
Having someone to call up whenever you're craving some sushi or you ate all the food in the house is a great perk. Nobody likes eating alone and college is expensive, and if you're like me, you spent all your money at Happy Hour Friday. So, when you have a boyfriend you always have someone to split a meal with, or just make him buy.
2. Always having a ride home from the bar after a night out with friends, because who can remember where they live when they've has a bit too much.
Nobody wants to spend the money and call an Uber to take them. Taxis take forever, and if you forgot your FSU ID (like I always do) then they can be just as pricey. When you have a boyfriend you have a guaranteed ride home from the bar and someone to drive you through Whataburger to cure your drunk munchies.
3. Knowing who (or what) you'll wake up to in the morning, because alcohol makes everyone look better.
This is a big one. Tallahassee is a prime location for swooping, but you don't always wake up to who you thought you brought home. Sometimes you get desperate. It's almost 2 o'clock, the bar is getting empty, and you do not want to go home alone. So standards get lower, you get drunker, and the guys look hotter. However, it's no fun waking up in the morning to someone you swore was a solid 9, but is actually a 3. On a good day. When you have a boyfriend you have a guaranteed swoop at the end of night and you know who you're making get you Dunkin in the morning.
There are always going to be reasons to stay single in college, but there are also some pretty great advantages to putting your days of taking home randoms behind you, and finding a guy to buy you pizza and watch Netflix with.
