Everyone says that the true meaning of Christmas is not the presents; it's about spending time with family and friends, remembering the story of Jesus' birth, and repeating Thanksgiving by feeling appreciative for all that you have. However, almost everyone has a wish list for what lies under the tree. I asked "Santa" for things like sweatpants, gift cards, etc. However, these aren't the things I want the most. As I've gotten older, my true desires lie within things that someone can't just buy at a store for me:
1. Money
I know what you're thinking: Yes, I can get money for Christmas. I've gotten it before. I've gotten a few bucks here and there, but a box filled to the brim with nothing but dollar bills is too much to ask anyone to give to you. I just wish I could have enough money to where I no longer have to worry about having to "adult."
2. A Bachelor's Degree
Tuition money can buy this, but only if you pass tens of classes while fulfilling the appropriate requirements. I guess I could get this wrapped and put under the true, but only after either receiving it at a commencement ceremony or through the mail. I'm not there yet, but my New Year's resolution is to attain my degree at the very end of the year.
3. A Guarantee That 2017 Will Be Okay
Speaking of New Year's, I hope that 2017 won't be as "surreal" as 2016 was. Everyone jokes about universally awful 2016 was. However, I and most everyone else personally have great memories and accomplishments from this year as well as occurrences they would rather not experience again. Unfortunately, there is no magic spell to grant 2017 to be "my year."
I guess I'm just going to have to earn these three things on my own.
