Are you ready to tackle 2017? Getting it together and planning is the most talked-about topic at the start of a new year, so here are a few ways to make sure that you stay organized in style:
1. Digital Planning
For some people, carrying around a planner can be a hassle. If you fall into this category, then digital planning is for you! Phone apps like iCal or Planner Pro allow you to keep all of your appointments, assignments, and commitments in the palm of your hand. The app store has hundreds of apps that will sync up to your computer, apple watch, or even the devices of family members who might share your commitments. If you’re constantly on the go, then this is the planning system for you!
2. Structured Paper Planning
I’m one of those people who like to write everything down and decorate my planner, so this system is my favorite! If you like to carry a physical planner to jot down your to-do list or weekly schedule, then this will probably suit you. I personally use the Erin Condren Life Planner system, and it has become my go-to favorite because of how easy it is to use and how personalized it is! Other planners to check out are the Happiness Planner and the Passion Planner. Most schools also give out pre-structured planners for free! Planners like these tend to have a specific layout that you can simply fill in with whatever you have going on that week. Everything fits into a daily, hourly or weekly box, and you don’t have to create any of your own templates. You can choose from dozens on the websites and create your own customized look without any of the “drawing board” designing.
3. Non-Structured Paper Planning
If you like having a physical planner, but want to design the layout yourself, then this is the system for you! My favorite way to do this type of planning is using the Bullet Journal System. This system allows you to design your layout any way you like but also gives you the foundation to keep everything organized. You can design spreads for anything, such as keeping track of your water intake throughout the week, or planning out a blog schedule! The possibilities are endless! Several brands make versions of the physical bullet journal book, such as Moleskine or Leuchtturm. Both of these brands offer a dotted journal that will serve just fine. If you’re feeling extra creative, you could even try this system in a plain sketchbook!
Be creative, be ahead of the game, and be stylish. Happy new year, and happy planning!
