While traveling abroad last summer I visited some awesome cities that were perfect for college students on a budget..

3. Rome, Italy

Ahhhh Italy, I honestly don’t know where to start. Well, for starters I knew that visiting Rome would be amazing; the Coliseum, Trevi fountain and St. Peters Square. Rome is a city filled with history, everywhere you walk there are beautiful handcrafted architecture would take a lifetime to learn about it all. My favorite part was the split culture, there was an island vibe filled with palm trees and terracotta buildings and at the same time it gave off a historic city vibe. The food was absolutely delicious and so fresh! My mom and I went to upscale restaurants and small quaint restaurants but they were all sooo good! My favorite dish was mushroom risotto and bruschetta. You should also look on Groupon for hotels. I was able to purchase 2 nights at a breathtaking castle a little outside of Rome for only 200 euros, including spa services and breakfast and 3-course dinner!

2. Prague, Czech Republic

Prague was by far one of the cities that shocked me the most. My traveling buddy decided that we should go to Prague for her 21st birthday. I hadn’t known anything about Prague but decided to give it a try. As we arrived we wanted to save our money and decided to go with public transportation, which was relatively easy and extremely cheap. The hotel we stayed at had a pretty nice view and it was 77 euros for two nights, which was a total steal. The nightlife is super fun as the streets fill with young adults jumping from club to club. Prague is home to Karlovy Lanz, the largest nightclub in central Europe, we ran from floor to floor where they catered to 5 different genres of music. We also visited a small bar, which I can’t remember (lol), which was located right across where all the late night eats where. Last but not least we visited Prague castle, with a view so breathtaking it brought tears to our eyes. It was definitely a #blackgirlmagic moment. Best of all everything was so cheap in Prague; dinner at a five-star restaurant was about $20 a person including a bottle of Czech wine. Definitely a bang for your buck!

1. Santorini Greece

OH Santorini! I will return to you one day. After spending two days in Athens we found flights as low as 30 euros going to Santorini. I’ve dreamed of going to Santorini for a few years now, intrigued by the blue domes and pristine whites cave homes, it seemed like the ultimate place to visit. As we arrived, Our Airbnb arranged a driver to pick us up for 20 American dollars as he drove us all the way to the top of the mountains. As the sun came up and it showcased some of the most serene views I have ever seen. We decided to wear booties when we arrived which wasn’t the best idea because we had to walk down steep steps to through the mountain to reach our Airbnb. When we arrived, we could see the ocean and the blue domes were right next to us. Real tears were also dropped this day, as Sade’s morning bird played in the background. We ventured out to the shops and restaurants, had a bite to eat and waited at the edge of the island to catch the magnificent sunset. This moment of my life made me so appreciative of the opportunity granted to me and definitely inspired me to reach for the stars. Everything here was pretty inexpensive as well and delicious. The people were so friendly and welcoming, I knew it was imperative for me to return. My favorite meal was shrimp souvlaki with a mythos beer, actually, all greek food was rich with flavor. If you want to get away and be at true peace, Santorini is the place to go!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
