If you're anything like me, you're constantly adding books to your list of "To Be Read." It's likely you won't get to them anytime soon, but there are a few I think you should make an effort for. This selection is based entirely off of my own preferences but hopefully you can find a book of interest!
1. All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater
It's no secret that "The Raven Cycle" series by Stiefvater is one of my favorite series, so would you believe my excitement when I saw that she put out another book in 2017? Set in the 1960s in Bicho Raro, Colorado, this book follows three members of the Soria family who all have the ability to perform miracles. I'm looking forward to seeing something strange, magical, and scenic like "The Raven Cycles," but in a stand-alone novel!
2. Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
As a novel progressing through time, following a Korean family through the generations, I have been meaning to check "Pachinko" off my list for a while. The family faces social challenges, discrimination, isolation in a foreign country, and even joy in their passions. "Pachinko" is one of those books you should go into knowing as little as possible and come out feeling enlightened. This is one of those books I've been meaning to read for a long time, and can't wait to sink into.
3. Still Lives by Maria Hummel
In a mystery novel that flips the stolen art trope on it's head, the artist goes missing on the night of her exhibition. Kim Lord is a feminist icon that creates a series titled "Still Lives," in which she creates portraits of herself in place of famous murdered women to make a statement. A young editor finds herself pulled into the mystery of the famous artist when she goes missing. I'm so excited to read this book, I might need to pick it up right now.
