3 Life Lessons My Dog Taught Me

1. If you care about someone don't me mad at them when they have to leave.

I always feel so bad when I go to college and am always fearful that my dog is going to be so mad at me when I don't come home for 2 months. However, when I finally come home I am always greeted with a toy and a wagging tail. This has shown me that no matter who comes and goes in life the good people will always come back around and I should be grateful when they do.

2. Find joy in the little things.

I have never seen anyone happier than my dog when I ask her if she wants to go for a walk or a ride in the car. This has taught me that it is important to find joy in little things like a good cup of coffee or a night out with friends.

3. Family is first.

If you really think about it your dog waits all day for you to come home. Your dog loves you more than you know and looks so forward to your presence every day. Take this and realize how essential and important your family is in your everyday life.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.
