Oh wow. It's December 23rd - where the heck did the time go?!

Are you like me and easily lose track of time - especially around the holidays? Do you keep pushing Christmas shopping off because you don't know what to get your friends - you want something that they'll love but you don't want to spend all of that cash in your wallet on them because you have to pay for textbooks next month. Yeah, I feel you. And I got you.

For this article, I have put together a small list of ideas for presents for your friends and family members that hopefully will help you out this year - and, you know, you can always come back to this article and use another idea.

1. Wallet Sized Pictures from Walmart

I say Walmart because I know from experience that Walmart can take up to an hour to print things, but you are more than welcome to go to Walgreens or wherever you think you'll get the pictures printed the fastest. You don't need to have the really big photos, either. All you need to do is find a few photos of you and your friends looking happy and healthy and print them out. You can print out wallet sized photos and have your friends be like grandparents and save all of their photos in their wallet and pull them out and say things like "this is my 5th grade friend... and this is us in the 6th grade..OH! and this is us at the 8th grade dinner dance - except there was no real dinner." I did this for my friends one year and instead of printing out twenty wallet sized photos, I printed out one photo in a collage and used the rest of my money to buy some small frames to put the picture in. They all loved it, so why shouldn't your friends?

2. Socks

Yeah, you heard me: socks. Now, I'm not saying any regular pair of socks, what you do is you buy a pair of socks you know your friend is going to like and then you stuff the socks. "Huh?" "What so you mean you stuff the socks?" Well, my dear reader, when you buy the socks, you also get items that you think will fit in the socks. If you buy knee-high socks, then you can also get your friend a bottle of lotion (I know for a fact that lotion will fit into knee high socks); if you buy no show socks, then you'll be filling the socks with a shot glass and some chocolate. And you know the best part about this idea? If you are like me and cannot wrap a gift for your life you don't have to wrap or bag the stuffed socks - the socks will be the wrapping paper for you.

3. Cookies (Not Santa's Leftovers!)

Everybody likes cookies or some form of baked goods. So why wouldn't your friends be happy if you baked them some fresh cookies? The new year doesn't start for another nine days and neither do their weight loss resolutions! Don't use the cookies that you left out for Santa, bake your friends a new batch. Do your friends not have a sweet tooth or have too many allergies that you are afraid to make them anything? Then snoop around their pantry or talk to their parents to find out what food is their favorite and make that!

No matter what you choose to do this holiday, always remember that the holidays are not all about stressing over the best gifts - sure some commercials would say it's the season of giving, and I would agree to a point. Let's just say that the season of giving should not be a number one priority this season. The number one priority should be spending time with your family and friends. Forget about the stress and worry over your ugly sweater and stop stressing on who you will kiss on New Year's Eve or under the mistletoe, and just be happy to have made it through another year and have your friends and family surrounding you and supporting you.

Happy Holidays xxx

Whether you're commuting or dorming, your first year of college is a huge adjustment. The transition from living with parents to being on my own was an experience I couldn't have even imagined- both a good and a bad thing. Here's a personal archive of a few of the things I learned after going away for the first time.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
