If there's one thing better than picking books for yourself, it's getting suggestions that end up being your favorite book in the future. Unfortunately, some of us have to go on a book buying ban. After looking at the May Book of the Month (BOTM) choices, (and being very sad I couldn't buy any of them yet) I decided to put together my own list or choices for this month from books I already own!
1. The Infinite Future by Tim Wirkus
This book has been on my list for a long time, but now that I have a copy to read from I'm ready to cross it off. The story starts when a Hello Kitty lunchbox washes up on the beach, containing a diary of a Japanese girl named Nao Yasutani. Ruth, the writer that finds this diary, quickly becomes lost in the tangles of Nao's life.
3. The Woman who gave Birth to Rabbits by Emma Donoghue
I've read a few of the short stories in this collection, but now that I have the free time this summer, I'm hoping to finish them all. In this collection, Donoghue gives voices to women during a time period where their lives were all but erased. She also has short stories based off strange records that she's brought to light and breathed life into.
