Let's face it. Summer internships may not work for everyone. Some of us may need full-time (paying!) jobs. Some of us may not have found our match or maybe you just don't even know the heck to do with your life.
Don't worry there are ways to boost your resume without wasting three months.
1. Get a job.
A job at a restaurant or bar can add an element of diversity to your resume. Let your future employer know you are a hard-worker who has dealt with nasty customers. Plus the tips are nice.
2. Volunteer.
Take some time to do some good in your community while adding experience to the "volunteer" section of your resume. Looks good and feels good.
3. Get it published.
Communications majors, I'm talking to you. We spend all year long curating different pieces of writing and design work that can be used for a greater good. Send some pieces to online writing publications or competitions. Published work looks great on a resume and sometimes you can even win some cash.
If you haven't found that dream summer internship, there's still time and ways to boost your resume before next year rolls around.
