"Without you guys I wouldn't be the person I am today."

To My Second Family
Jessica Miller

Family means everything. No matter how big or how small, your family plays a big part in your everyday life. Your family is your support system, the people who care for you no matter what, the people who have helped to shape you into the person you are today.

However, family doesn't always mean blood, for myself and most we have a second family. People that we are lucky enough to call family even though you aren't actually related. I've considered my best friends family a second family for as long as I can remember. They've been there through most of my life, caring for me and loving me like their own.

This one is for you, my awesome second family.

I want to start off by saying thank you. Thank you for always making me feel at home. Thank you for not minding that I just barge in through your door yelling "I'm home!". Thank you for letting me sleepover at your house countless time and for listening to me vent about my never ending drama.Thank you for including me in holidays and family parties, you don't know how much it means to me to know the awesome people you call family.

Thank you for the camping trips and vacations I'll never forget, for the encouraging words on the way to the soccer field. Thank you for welcoming me into your family, and treating me like a third daughter. Thank you for raising two amazing women that I'm so lucky to consider to be my sisters. Thank you for a bond I'll forever be grateful for.

Thank you for all the awesome memories that have been made in your home, from the soccer sleepovers to lazy movie nights, those are nights I will never forget. Thank you for always giving me another thing to look forward to when I come home from college.

You've made such a strong impact on my life, something I can never thank you enough for. Without you guys I wouldn't be the person I am today.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.

What's up Asshat,

I've composed a list of things that I wish upon you, and they're harsh and cruel. These things are things that I wouldn't wish upon my worst of enemies, not even that Starbuck's barista who always screws up my order, not even him. You fall into a whole other category of hate. You surpass Starbucks barista. Congratulations, I'm actually a pretty nice person, making you worthy of every single bit of torture I wish upon you. What are these things I wish upon you you might ask?
