28 Thoughts Everyone Has While Trying To Write

"Writing is easy!" said no one ever.

Let me tell you something you'll probably say is the most obvious thing in the world: writing is hard. It doesn't matter how good you are, sitting down to write can be one of the most difficult things in the world. And sitting down to write something you're actually happywith is even harder. I can write and rewrite a piece a thousand times over and never fully be happy with it. Or I can write something all in one go and think I've just won the Nobel Prize (ha!). You never really know. Writing is an emotional rollercoaster: a huge, unpredictable, uproar of feelings you can't quite seem to control as you try to spit them out into one page.

Every writer has their own process for dealing with this, but here is a general idea of the thought process that goes through our minds (at least mine, like, every day) while we're writing.

1. Okay, lets do this.

Because actually getting yourself to the computer is, like, half the process.

2. How long is it going to take me to actually come up with an idea?

3. Words? What are words?

4. YES! Finally, I got it!

5. Actually, nope. Never mind.

6. How bad would it be if I hand this in blank?

7. This is hopeless. I'm watching Netflix.

8. Wait...that might be something.

9. Okay, that's not too bad.

10. Yeah, I'm liking this.

11. Should I take a break now?

12. How much time do I have? Shit.

13. I can do this. I know what I'm doing.

14. Where was I going with this?

15. Is this even making sense?

16. I honestly want to delete everything.

17. This is probably the worst thing I've ever written.

18. Why do I enjoy writing?

19. Oh wait, that's a pretty good idea. Can I put this in here?

20. I don't know if that works but I'm going with it.

21. Almost done, should I take another break?

22. No, no, no. Focus.

23. I'M DONE.

24. Should I proofread this before sending?

25. I've read through it five times, it's fine.

26. I sent it in but maybe I should read through it just in case.

27. DAMN IT, THERE WAS A TYPO.

28. Whatever. I'm taking a nap.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
