Time and time again sorority women have their morals and ideals questioned because they are part of a Greek organization. There are no concrete reasons as to why this happens but it does and it is very insulting to each and every one of us. So, the next time you decide to trash a woman because she loves her sorority, I suggest you ask yourself these questions first.
1. Do you even know what a sorority is?
2. Do you want to empower other women?
3. Do you value friendship?
4. Or love?
5. Or family?
6. Can you define “philanthropy”?
7. Actually, when was the last time you did community service?
8. Have you ever wished you had someone to talk to?
9. Can you imagine organizing events for 50 plus women and their guests?
10. Do you know the history behind Greek life?
11. Did you know Carrie Underwood was a sorority woman (Sigma Sigma Sigma)?
12. Or Condoleezza Rice (Alpha Chi Omega)?
13. What about Kate Spade (Kappa Kappa Gamma)?
14. What do you gain from trashing a woman who dedicates her time to improving society?
15. Could you help run an entire organization on your college campus?
16. Would you want an opportunity to earn scholarships?
17. Is your opinion based off a movie?
18. Or outrageous hazing stories (from chapters that have most likely been suspended)?
19. Are you being kind?
20. Do the people you know in a sorority reflect your negative views?
21. Could you devote countless hours to bettering yourself and the community while going to school?
22. Were you scared when you first went to college and nervous you would never find your place?
23. Do you want a connection to thousands of women across the country?
24. Would you benefit from learning leadership skills?
25. Or communication skills?
26. Or social skills in every form there is?
27. Have you ever done any research on sororities and what they actually do?
LASTLY,
28. What did we ever do to you?
Hopefully, these questions will help you realize that we sorority women are not who you think we are. We are devoted to our sisterhood and to empowering other women to become the best they can be. We do everything we can to raise money for our philanthropies and to give a home to women who might have never felt like they belonged. And after all of that what's the harm if we want to take a few cute pictures?
