I am always on the lookout for motivating songs to add to my workout and running playlists, and lately has been no exception. I'm currently training for either my next half or full marathon and I am beginning to enter the part of training where boredom becomes a valid obstacle! My old playlist just isn't cutting it anymore because I am almost to the part of repeating songs during runs, and I'm running so often that even if my soundtrack doesn't repeat, it feels as if it does. As I was tidying up my apartment earlier in the week, I stumbled upon a playlist I had created recently filled with fun throwback songs. You know the ones, the songs you probably got down to at junior high school dances if you're about the same age as me. Running music definitely depends on my mood, so if you're in the mood for some songs that are fun and bring you back while motivating you to pick up the pace, these are for you.

1. Yeah! - Usher, Lil' Jon, Ludacris

Just the beginning of the beat of this song brings out the Halie of school dances past. Things are about to get LIT.

2. Goodies - Ciara, Petey Pablo

Let's be real. I definitely haven't grown any song worthy goodies since 2007, but this song makes me pretend that I have.

3. In Da Club - 50 Cent

Go shawty, it's ya birthday.

4. Walk It Out or Two Step - UNK

Have they even made any more music? Oh well. Walk (or run) it out. Also, how did our teachers let us sing that we were undercover hoes in junior high?

5. Drop It Like It's Hot - Snoop Dogg, Pharrell Williams

Snooooooooooooooooooooooooooop.

6. We Fly High - Jim Jones

BALLLLLIN'!

7. Lean Back - Terror Squad

Just pull up yo pants, and do the rock away. Whatever that is.

8. Party Up - DMX

Ya'll gon' make me lose my mind.

9. Get Low - Ying Yang Twins

Literally the dirtiest song ever, and it was played at every school dance. You were scarred in the 7th grade when you finally looked up what skeet skeet meant.

10. Teach Me How to Dougie - Cali Swag District

They gon' be on you when they see you hit that dougie right.

11. Got Money - Lil Wayne, T-Pain

The duo of my generation. (*sarcasm*)

12. Empire State of Mind - Alicia Keys, Jay-Z

In New Yorrrrrrrk.

13. Ridin' - Chamillionaire, Krayzie Bone

They hopin' that they gon' catch you ridin' dirty.

14. This Is Why I'm Hot - MiMS

Oh, yeah. This was definitely on every one of our cell phones for a ring tone, even if you didn't like the song. Hello, to the memories of having bluetooth names and swapping 20 second clips during gym on my RAZR.

15. My Love - Justin Timberlake

I can see us holdin' hands walkin' on the beach our toes in the sand.

16. Make It Rain - Lil Wayne, Fat Joe

Yes, 13 year old Halie. Make it rain on them hoes.

17. Forever - Chris Brown

Sigh. It was a simpler time.

18. Crank That - Soulja Boy

You know I had to put these two next to each other.

19. Hot in Herre - Nelly

Not to be used on summer runs when it really is hot in herre.

20. Dangerous - Kardinal Offishal, Akon

That girl is so dangerous.

21. London Bridge - Fergie

OH SH*T.

22. This Is The Way I Live - Baby Boy Da Prince

Again, have no idea if he made anything else. Ever.

23. Gold Digger - Kanye West

Now I ain't sayin' she a gold digger.

24. Run It! - Chris Brown, Julez Santana

Run it, girl! (or dude!)

25. Pop Lock and Drop It - Huey

OH POP LOCK AND DROP ITTTT. You know you tried, too.

26. Tipsy - J-Kwon

Nothing like a good ole' glorifying underage drinking song.

27. Glamourous - Fergie, Ludacris

G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S

28. Bring Em Out -T.I.

Forever ingrained into my memory being the last loser to run out of the locker room to this song.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
