27 Truths About The Faster Horses Festival

Just this past weekend the #partyofthesummer took place at the Michigan International Speedway and though this three-day country music festival has only been going on for a few years it's really gained popularity. This year the festival sold out and over 40,000 people attended. Did you head over to MIS for the festival? Or are you planning on attending next year? Read below for 27 truths about the Faster Horses Festival!

1. Even if you don't "like" country music, you'll like country music.

2. It's 100 percent acceptable to wear a bikini top, jean shorts, cowboy boots, flash tattoos and a camouflage baseball cap backwards for three days in a row.

3. It's a weekend you might have a hard time remembering but you'll NEVER want to forget!

4. The Cottage Inn guy driving around in a golf cart is the most amazing person ever. Not really, BUT when you find him at 1 a.m. while walking back from the concert and he has a large, hot, cheesy pizza that basically has your name written all over it he WILL seem like it.

5. Tents suck but they are cheaper than campers, and you won't care because you'll be having the time of your life at the #partyofthesummer.

6. It's totally acceptable to go full-on hillbilly for the entire weekend.

7. United States flag print and camouflage totally go together, I promise.

8. $10 for a bag for ice (I mean it's just frozen water!) is ridiculous but you'll pay for it anyway.

9. Peanut butter and jelly really was the best invention ever, and you probably ate a lot of it this weekend.

10. Not everything is going to go as planned and that is OKAY.

11. You will go through the McDonald's drive-through at least once.

12. Let's face it. It's more fun to be up front and really be a part of the crowd EVEN if that means standing on your feet for more than six hours and not leaving, FOR ANYTHING!

13. 'MURICA themed everything!

14. Your car battery probably died because you left your car on too long while charging your cell phone.

15. The line for the portable showers will forever be long.

16. The tram system is extremely frustrating.

17. You'll probably take lots of selfies, and that's totally acceptable.

18. You will play party games, corn hole included.

19. EVERYTHING will smell like bonfire.

20. There are other people your age everywhere, so it's really easy to make new friends.

21. By the end of the concert you'll have a very special bond with the people you stood next to all day long.

22. You will sing, really loudly, for hours on end.

23. It's all about good times, new friends and great music.

24. You and your besties will probably "stirrup" some trouble this wonderful Faster Horses weekend and you won't want to leave.

25. #fasterhorses

26. You WILL have the TIME OF YOUR LIFE. It'll be an unforgettable weekend.

27. You already can't wait for next year!

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
