27 Things My Best Friend Says When I Drag Her To The Gym

Even though she hates the gym, she makes it pretty amusing for me.

Work Life and Bella

I love love love my best friend so much, but I also love the gym. Combining the two of them seemed fun, until I realized she just was not the ideal gym buddy. I have come to terms with it, and we have agreed that we will just meet up for dinner after my workouts... Just kidding, I still drag her there.

In all seriousness, she truly makes the gym entertaining for me. After going to the gym a few times with her, trying to teach her some workouts, I decided to make a list of all the things she says and asks while working out. Even though she distracts me, set in and set out, at least I got an article out of it (Thanks, J).

1. "Dude, seriously, why did you bring me here?"

2. "I'm so weak."

3. "So what's on the agenda today? Cardio and people watching?"

4. "Nope, not today."

5. "Can you make this lighter for me?"

6. "Where's my water?"

7. "Oooh, I want that body! Help me do that."

8. "OK, I can do this. Nope, no, I can't do this."

9. "Can we go now?"

10. "Woah, how do you do that?"

11. "I wish no one was here, I feel like everyone is looking at me."

12. "Brownies, cookies, cake. Brownies, cookies, cake. One more set, let's go!"

13. "I do not belong here, this is not my habitat."

14. "I wish I could lose my hips."

15. "Ah, yes, this is my song!"

16. "OMG is that guy looking at me?"

17. "My arms are so tiny. Why"

18. "I need a nicer butt. Can we work on that next time?"

19. "Guess what today is!? Wine Wednesday!"

20. "I need motivation to get through this hour."

21. "When can we eat?"

22. "I'm getting big... I did 5."

23. "Pumpin' iron."

24. "I can't breathe... Like actually cannot breathe."

25. "Have you been to Sam's [our campus dining hall] today? They have sushi!"

26. "I want a cookie."

27. "Where's my water?"

28. "This is too heavy. 5 pounds it is."

29. "You judge me so hard, stop looking at me!"

30. If I had one, I'd need my inhaler at this point."

31. "How do I work this machine?"

32. "No, absolutely not. We are not going downstairs where all the boys are!"

33. "How much longer?"

34. "When can we eat?"

35. "My legs hurt, I'm done now."

36. "Pouchy the Pirate!" *pokes stomach*

37. "Oh my gosh, he is so cute. I look terrible, don't I?"

38. "I just want some ice cream."

39. "Why are we here, I should be in bed."

40. "Ay yai yai, thank goodness we're done. So.... food?"

Even though you people watch at the gym, or constantly go to your favorite leg machine on arm day, I still love you. Thank you for filling my life with laughs and love, even when I'm sweating my butt off at the gym. Love you, J!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.
