27 Questions I Have For Stephen F. Austin State University

I've learned a lot about Stephen F. Austin State University during my two and a half years here, but there are several things I still don't quite understand. Here is a list of things I find myself wondering again and again:

1. Why is one side of campus "east college" but the other side isn't referred to as "west college?"

2. Why must the WiFi suck so badly?

3. What ever happened to the rat in the EC?

4. How come there is a Floor 0 in Fergeson?

5. Dude. What's up with the parking?

6. Speaking of which, why are parking tickets so expensive?

7. Also, how much joy do the parking monitors get out of writing so many tickets?

8. If someone hits me with their car, will they really have to pay my tuition?

9. Why are there couches in the McKibben girl's bathroom?

11. What is the easiest way to describe our hand sign?

12. How come sorority row only has one frat house?

13. Is it really too hard for people to understand that we're not located in Austin?

14. Why aren't we supposed to go into the Old Stone Fort Museum until after we've graduated?

15. Am I really not going to graduate if I step on the seal?

16. Is Mays really haunted?

17. How come no one in this town can drive?

18. Is putting on your flashers and parking anywhere you want acceptable anywhere else, or that just an SFA thing?

19. Did a guy really die in the theater building?

20. Why isn't the library open 24 hours?

21. How come the tours made it seem like everyone carries axe handles around all the time?

22. Why is all of the food in the EC and SC so bad?

23. Why don't we have a campus-wide Snapchat story?

24. Purple isn't bad... but why purple?

25. You chose to settle down in Nacogdoches because of how funny it sounds, didn't you?

26. Why is everyone at Sam Houston State so jealous of us?

27. Why is SFA such an amazing school?

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
