Ah, the service industry. There's nothing like waking up in the morning knowing that you have to do your makeup, put on uncomfortable shoes, and spend your day being nice to people who definitely don't deserve it. But hey, at least it'll pay the bills. Hopefully.

1. When someone comes in five minutes before the end of your shift and goes, “Oh good, you’re still open!”

2. When your coworker gets seated with the family that tipped you 50 cents yesterday.

3. When the new host quadruple seats you.

4. When they redeem themselves by seating someone really hot in your section.

5. When someone complains to you about their food taking too long, even though the restaurant is clearly busy.

6. When the kitchen messes up an order and gives you the extra food.

7. When a customer tips you a mound of loose change.

8. When you get a table full of teenagers.

9. When those 25 girls are SO EXCITED about their bachelorette party.

10. When a cute customer puts their number on the check.

11. When you REALLY need your shift covered.

12. When someone ACTUALLY SNAPS at you.

13. When you laugh at your customer’s stupid joke but only because your rent is due in three days.

14. When a group of middle-aged men hits on you.

15. When people bring their babies in, let them throw their food everywhere, and don’t even attempt to clean it up.

16. When someone asks you to cover their shift and you REALLY don’t want to but you need the money.

17. When someone asks for a drink you’ve literally never heard of.

18. When someone threatens to complain to the administration and you KNOW your manager is going to back you up.

19. When some middle-aged lady wants an egg-white veggie omelet, cooked without butter, with dry toast and an ice water with lemon.

20. When your favorite coworker gets to leave early.

21. When you cash out after a long day and still have an hour’s worth of side work to do.

22. When someone’s date is clearly going badly.

23. When the date is going TOO well and they’re basically dry humping by the time you go up to take their drink order.

24. When the kitchen runs out of a popular dish.

25. When the whole squad is working the same shift.

26. When someone asks you if you like your job.

27. When the shifts are long and people are awful and your feet hurt like nobody’s business, but you know that you’ll get through it together.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
