Running. The thought of putting feet to pavement (or a treadmill) strikes fear into the eyes of many. For some, it is a way to clear one's head after a stressful day. For others, it is a method of torture meant to only be used in dire circumstances, or more commonly, never. To those who choose to run, there are many thoughts that circulate through one's head, including, but not limited to:
1. Oh this will be great! I'm running!
2. I even made a great playlist to go along with it.
3. The Spice Girls are cheering me on -- they know I want to spice up my run.
4. I want to be healthy and fit, and running will get me there.
5. Everything is great.
6. Everything is not great.
7. Why am I tired after one short song?
8. No, I have a goal, I'm going to stick to it.
9. Okay, it's getting better. Maybe I'll take a swig of water.
10. Much better, I'm ready to keep going.
11. I HAVE THE POWER!
12. I AM THE BEST RUNNER ALIVE!
13. I can probably say I'm in training for a marathon, right?
14. Maybe a half.
15. Who am I kidding, how about a 5k?
16. Cramp!
17. More water, deep breaths.
18. You can do it.
19. I still have one mile left.
20. Power through it.
21. I am better than my gym class mile days!
22. Thank goodness I put this song to end on!
23. Old Kanye West is clearly the best.
24. I'm so close I can almost taste it.
25. Just one foot in front of the other.
26. I made it!
26.2. Now I can eat all of the things!! And drink all of the water!
Running is definitely hard work, but it definitely pays off in the long run (literally).
