As a woman, having long hair can be a blessing as well as a curse. I, personally, wouldn’t know what I would do if I chopped my hair short; I’m sure that I would feel as bald as can be and would be lost if I ran out of hair at my shoulders when I ran my hands through it. That being said, having long hair isn’t the walk in the park that people assume that it is, despite the resulting “beautiful hair.” As Rapunzel sings in "Tangled,"one must “brush and brush and brush” their hair and it takes a lot of time and effort to do so. Unfortunately, maintenance time isn’t the only struggle that comes when the length of your flowing locks increases, and this list contains some of the more relatable “long hair struggles.”

1. It takes two bottles of conditioner for each bottle of shampoo.

2. It takes upwards of four hours for your hair to air dry.

3. Having to untangle your hair from the backpack so that you can set it down.

4. Not being able to drive with the windows down on a good hair day.

5. You get in an arm day workout while curling your hair.

6. How amazing it is to still have hair in your head when you shed so much.

7. You sleep with your hair down and it turns into a noose around your neck.

8. The sore spot that you get on your head when your hair has been up too long.

9. The hairballs on the carpet look like spiders.

10. Closing your hair in the car doors.

11. Wrapping your hair in a towel and the ends still stick out the bottom.

12. That awful feeling when you forget to bring a hair-tie with you.

13. Not being able to wear your hair down with a scarf because you get a massive knot at the back of your neck.

14. Flipping your hair and accidentally hitting someone in the face. Whoops.

15. When a messy bun looks like a massive growth on the back of our head.

16. Taking up to three bottles of hair-dye to dye your hair.

17. Feeling something touch you and then realizing it’s just hair.

18. Showering with a puddle in the bottom of the shower because your hair is stopping up the drain.

19. Having to use 800 bobby pins to put your hair in an up-do.

20. That awkward moment when you have to tell someone that they are on your hair.

21. When your hair gets stuck in the chair you are sitting in.

22. Having to braid your hair to swim for fear that you'll have to chop it off after to get rid of all the knots.

23. All of the hair that you find in your food if you cook without your hair in a bun (a ponytail is still too long).

24. Thinking your hair is so much shorter when you trim off the split ends, but it’s still long.

25. Having to think of a good response when people say “Hey, I love your hair.”

26. That irrational jealousy you feel when someone’s hair is longer than yours.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
