Nov. 19, 2015, marked the third annual celebration of 26 Days of Kindness campaign to remember and honor the lives lost at Sandy Hook Elementary, Dec. 14, 2012.
As a community lost in the darkness of the tragedy, we were overwhelmed with support from across the world. From the simplest acts of strangers paying for cups of coffee, and letters and pictures expressing condolences, to donations made to the victims’ families and local town shops.
For the next 26 days until Dec 14, join my town and myself in completing one random act of kindness each day in honor of the 26 angels of Sandy Hook. Even the smallest of acts can change someone’s day for the better.
1. Fill an empty parking meter.
2. Pay for a stranger’s lunch.
3. Leave a waiter or waitress an extra tip.
4. Donate toys and clothes to RedCross, Big Brothers Big Sisters, or any other organization.
5. Help carry someone’s groceries.
6. Offer to shovel someone’s driveway.
7. Pay for someone’s RedBox rental.
8. Leave a nice note on someone’s car or door.
9. Donate dog food to an animal rescue shelter.
