26 Lines From 'Gilmore Girls' That Breathe Life Into Us

Gilmore Girls is one of those great kind of shows that will live on forever. It's a show that has the ability to relate to any generation and depict relatable situations that will never not be relevant. The show follows the everyday lives of single mother Lorelai Gilmore and her bright young daughter Rory. The two face ups and downs together when it comes to relationships, family, school and much more. Despite it all, the two are always able to maintain their own relationship as best friends. They have a bond that will make any mother and daughter envious.

Whether you're watching the show by yourself, with a friend, with your mom or with your entire family, this show will have everybody laughing. The characters are real, the situations are relatable and the love is unmatched by any other show. However, above everything else, part of what makes the show so great are the unique and witty lines that make the show so memorable. So let's all take a walk through Stars Hollow and have a look back on some of the best lines from the show we all know and love:

1. Lorelai fantasizing about the idea of her and Rory having a "normal mother-daughter relationship."

Lorelai: "This is it. She can finally go to Harvard like she's always wanted and get the education that I never got and get to do all the things that I never got to do and then I can resent her for it and we can finally have a normal mother-daughter relationship."

2. Oh, the high society folks of Chilton...

Rory: "He's going to be expecting Chilton High School senior, Trixie McBimbo."

Lorelai: "And her mother, Bambi McBimbo."

3. Always loving comments from Emily Gilmore.

Emily: "As a child, your mother had an unusually large head."

Lorelai: "The best thing about it was that she would tell me... constantly. My first complete sentence was, 'Big Head want dolly.'"

4. Lorelai's sixth sense for knowing when her mother is around.

Lorelai: "My mother–she was here. I can feel it. Smell that? The room smells like guilt and Chanel No. 5."

5. Richard making it too easy for Lorelai to take a jab.

Richard: "I like that boy."

Lorelai: "Prove it. Drop your pants!"

6. There's always something bizarre going on with Kirk...

Kirk: "Big news!"

Lorelai: "Kirk, sit down."

Kirk: "Can't, these aren't my pants."

7. We'll never know how Rory can understand all of her mother's crazy lingo.

Lorelai: "But then I asked myself, 'W.W.T.B.F.C.D?' And it came to me in a flash. 'I'm gonna make waffles.'"

Rory: "What would the Barefoot Contessa do?"

8. VERY relatable dating advice from Lorelai.

Max: "Because we're clearly attracted to each other."

Lorelai: "I'm attracted to pie. It doesn't mean I feel the need to date pie."

9. The sad truth about being in love.

Lorelai: "I'm afraid that once your heart is involved, it all comes out in moron."

10. Emily getting a little too crazy for Richard's taste.

Richard: "Only prostitutes have two glasses of wine at lunch."

Emily: "Well, then buy me a boa and drive me to Reno because I am open for business."

11. We can always count on Lorelai to throw in some weird humor when we least expect it.

Luke: "Okay, I'm going to take these [spiders] outside. Any particular place you want them?"

Lorelai: "Someplace shady. Sheltered from the elements. And close to a talking pig."

12. We all know how the Gilmore girls feel about their coffee.

Lorelai: "If it was physically possible to make love to a hot beverage, this would be the one."

13. Lorelai's sarcasm rates going off the charts.

Rory: "How am I supposed to get into Harvard if I have no wilderness skills?"

Lorelai: "I don't know honey. Maybe you'll have to give up your dream of majoring in Logging."

14. Wait...who is this?

Lorelai: "Independence Inn!"

Emily: "I need the hat rack."

Lorelai: (whispers) "The fish flies at night!"

Emily: "What?"

Lorelai: "I don't know. Who is this?"

15. Rory always being the voice of reason.

Rory: "I want you to come over here to this dresser, open up the top drawer and take out everything that you'd be embarrassed to be wearing during a car accident."

16. Poor clowns.

Kirk: (screaming incoherently) "Town meeting!"

Lorelai: "What are they saying?"

Luke: "There was a clown beating?"

Lorelai: (gasp) "Not again!"

17. Emily's ways of reasoning never fail to confuse us.

Emily: "When a woman gives birth to a crack baby, you do not buy her a puppy."

18. Paris not really getting the whole "flirting" thing.

Paris: "Oh man, I can't believe this! I finally get asked out on a date and I missed it?"

19. Just another typical Lorelai remark.

Lorelai: "Yes, I left behind a glass slipper and a business card...just in case the prince is really dumb."

20. Emily should know what to expect at this point.

Emily: "A bad storm is headed your way. It's already hitting us here."

Lorelai: Well, don't panic. I'll get the ark, you get the animals."

21. The deer hit you...?

Rory: "I just got hit by a deer!"

22. Well if he has a motorcycle...

Lorelai: "If you're gonna throw your life away, he'd better have a motorcycle!"

23. Lorelai's own personal catchphrase.

Lorelai: "Oy, with the poodles already."

24. Bounced right back from that insult.

Emily: "You're crude and unprofessional."

Lorelai: "I'd like that on my tombstone please."

25. Coffee would never do anything to hurt me.

Luke: "I'll let you get back to taking five years off your life.

Lorelai: "Meh. They were the five years where I would've been wearing fuchsia lipstick way beyond my lip line, so I wouldn't want 'em anyhow."

26. The meaning of life...through the eyes of Lorelai Gilmore.

Lorelai: "It's all any of us wants, to find a nice person to hang out with 'til we drop dead. Not a lot to ask!"

So the lesson is: always find a way to laugh at life like Lorelai, listen to Rory's words of wisdom, stay classy like Emily, and be there for someone like Luke is there for Lorelai.

If you've watched the show before, I'm sure these lines allowed you to reminisce about the good ol' Gilmore Girls days. If you haven't watched before, I hope these quotes gave you a glimpse into what you're missing out on. Gilmore Girls will forever be a classic and those are only a few of the lines that make it so.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
