As a product of the 90s, I have a penchant for angsty music; it was in the water when I was born. I drank the Koolaid and was never the same again. I like to think Kurt Cobain is smiling down on my generation as we carry on the tradition of melodramatic lyrics, "sludgy" guitar sounds and the ever-present desire for freedom. Jimmy Eat World, Greenday, My Chemical Romance, Evanescence-- I still know every single word to all their hits 11 years later.

So, get ready to update your AIM profile as we pull out these 26 angsty songs from the early 2000s that just, like, got you.

1. The Middle- Jimmy Eat World

2. Scars- Papa Roach

I thought this song was the most poetic song ever when I was in the sixth grade.

3. I'm Not Okay (I Promise)- My Chemical Romance

4. The Diary of Jane- Breaking Benjamin

I like to think I contributed at least one third of all views on this music video with as many times as I clicked replay.

5. Sweetness- Jimmy Eat World

6. Perfect- Simple Plan

7. Misery Business- Paramore

8. MakeDamnSure- Taking Back Sunday

9. Blurry- Puddle of Mud

I'm pretty sure everyone knows the words to this song; it was the quintessential breakup song of the 2000s.

10. The Ghost of You- My Chemical Romance

This was the first song I ever bought on iTunes

11. Only One- Yellowcard

I was such a Yellowcard fan I learned this song on the guitar. I may or may not still have it memorized.

12. Boulevard of Broken Dreams- Greenday

13. Broken- Seether

14. Face Down- Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

The CD that this song is on is currently in my bedroom along with a Paramore CD I bought in the ninth grade.

15. Bring Me To Life- Evanescence

16. Teenagers- My Chemical Romance

17. I Hate Everything About You- Three Days Grace

I will always remember this as the song my fifth grade "boyfriend" used on his MySpace page when we "broke up." I was such a little heartbreaker.

18. Bleed American- Jimmy Eat World

This was my favorite song to run to. The beat is the perfect pace for a nice 3-mile run once you get warmed up.

19. Disenchanted- My Chemical Romance

AIM profile lyric: You're just a sad song, with nothing to say

20. With Me- Sum 41

21. The River- Good Charlotte

22. I Miss You- blink182

23. So Far Away- Staind

This actually is a really simple song to play on guitar-- it's the lyrics that really speak, though.

24. So Cold- Breaking Benjamin

25. Vindicated- Dashboard Confessional

26. Miss Murder- AFI

Take a listen to my playlist and then go fight the man!

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
