25 Thoughts Sorority Girls Have While Crafting

Everyone knows that sorority girls get abnormally excited (and stressed) over any and all crafting opportunities. What better way to show your sisters some love than with a personalized paddle covered in pearls? In an ideal world, we could all make Pinterest worthy creations that put Martha Stewart to shame.

Ask any sorority girl and she will tell you: it's not as easy as it looks. We spend countless hours (and paychecks) on crafting gifts for our bigs, littles and friends. Basically, sorority girls are Michael’s most frequent customers and probably know the store better than the actual employees. Any special occasion is an excuse to break out the canvases and mason jars. Crafting is a long process that takes planning, supplies, lots of time and excessive amounts of glitter.

1. What would I do without Pinterest? There’s so many different pretty things I want to make my little..

2. (45 pages later) Ok, I still cant decide if I want to make a paddle or a pillow.

3. Oh my god. This one’s perfect. It looks so cute and it’s soo my little!

4. All I need is a canvas, pearls, rhinestones, paintbrushes, glitter, stencils and glue. Sounds easy enough.

5. Walking into Michaels like...

6. Have I really been here for two hours? I need to finish shopping and start crafting...just one more trip down the paint aisle.

7. I’m sorry, what did she say the total was???

8. Well, there goes my food money for the next month.

9. My little better love me...

10. I’m so excited to start! This is gonna be adorable.

11. (2 hours later) Ok, I’m almost done with the base coat.

12. Who knew it would be so difficult to write three letters?

13. If this paint doesn’t dry in five minutes, I’m going to lose it.

14. I really should have paid someone to do this for me.

15. This looks nothing like the picture…

16. Time to call in the sisters for some help.

17. I’m sure they really want to spend their Thursday night glueing 1,000 rhinestones.

18. So many burns from this glue gun.

19. I’m not crafty. I don’t know why I thought this would be fun.

20. It was fun like 3 hours ago.

21. I could probably buy something like this online.

22. Too late now...

23. I care more about how this turns out than I do about my Econ quiz tomorrow. Is that bad?

24. Nah.

25.I really should have bought more glitter.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
