Rainy days turn into storms and storms turn into monsoons and monsoons turn into power outages. Especially when you live in a house as old as I do as a college student. The other night, in the midst of writing a completely different article, the power in my neighborhood went out. Little did I know that this little storm would turn into the Great Flood of 2016. While sitting in the dark with my afraid-of-the-dark roommate, each of the following things were thought/said. And don't even pretend that you would've thought any differently...
1. Oh, crap.
2. What was that sounds?!
3. There's a killer in the house.
4. Wait, who even provides our power?...
5. I guess it's time to actually use those candles I just had to have.
6. It's hour two without power; I don't know if I'm going to make it.
7. Dammit this means I can't turn on my white noise machine.
8. ALL MY COLD FOOD IS GOING BAD!
9. Mom, this is reason number 62967 why I need a German Shepherd... to be my guard dog.
10. Holy hell it's hot.
11. Do I sleep or do I pace around and try to fix this?
12. It's hour three without power, I'm 74% sure the world is ending.
13. Is this karma for eating four pieces of pizza last night?
14. Heat is increasing.
15. Wait, what happens when my phone dies?
16. I guess this means I should actually interact with my roommates.
17. Where the hell is Entergy? Do they not understand how hard life is without wifi?!
18. Heat is still increasing.
19. Does the hot water get shut off when the power goes out? I just can't do a cold shower...
20. Okay, yes, this is in fact where I die.
21. My sanity is no longer.
22. How did people live like this back in the day...?
23. Caroline, stop bitching. There are people who have nothing.
24. Man, I should really do more charity work.
25. Heat stroke is coming on.
26. WAIT I see a light at the end of the street...What does this mean?!?
27. THE AC IS KICKING IN THERE IS HOPE.
Hours have passed and after the "scorching" heat, going into survival mode, and pondering your life, they power has finally turned back on. All is good in the world.
