25 Thoughts Every FAU Student Will Have This Fall

Ahhh, it's that wonderful time of year again. Freshman are moving in, school supplies are stocking the shelves, and summer is dwindling down. Yup, that's right. Fall semester is starting. BUT FEAR NOT, even though the thought of your tan fading is making you tear up, you can't wait to see your friends again and start cheering on your football team. As FAU students we all tend to have the same thoughts coming back to school:

  1. Oh breezeway, how I missed you.
  2. Woah, they painted (spoiler alert).
  3. This looks pretty cool. I love the school spirit.
  4. Look at all the freshman, they're so cute.
  5. I wonder if they'll swipe me into the caf?
  6. What, they're redoing the food court again?
  7. I'll probably just eat at Chick-Fil-La all semester anyways.
  8. Maybe they got rid of the spider problem over summer.
  9. I lied, I didn't miss the breezeway *almost gets run over by a person on a long board*
  10. What's all this hype about UPark?
  11. And when is Publix going to be done?
  12. Nope. They did not fix the spider problem.
  13. Oh well, at least I'm going to meet my friends in the frat lab for some light studying.
  14. LOL who am I kidding, no one actually studies in the frat lab.
  15. I'll just sit here and catch up with my friends until class starts.
  16. Why is it so cold in General South?
  17. It's the middle of August in south Florida, I shouldn't need to carry a jacket.
  18. There are so many freshman, I can't escape them.
  19. I wonder if the football team is going to be good this year?
  20. Supposedly they got some great recruits.
  21. But they also said that the past 3 years.
  22. Oh well, I can't wait for tailgating in the Rats Mouth.
  23. WAIT. They moved tailgating to lot 5.
  24. This is going to suck.
  25. I'm just trying to Go Owls.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
