Have you ever noticed how there are always some questions that stop us in our tracks, and make us question ourselves and what we've been taught? You ever thought really deep and long about how you would answer those questions?
Being a college student some of those mind-blowing questions have been asked and haven't been given any answers, especially number 19. My one professor asked us this, and listed all of the reasons we thought we should go to college. Long story short, she crossed off every single reason and explained each one. She then left us hanging a couple of days until she told us why we should go to college. I won't spoil it for you because, apparently, "to get a good job" or "receive more education" aren't sufficient answers. There are some important questions that everyone should think about, so I thought I would make a list of them. Take some time to think about each one. Maybe even write down some answers as you go along. Should be fun.
1. Is there a God?
2. (If there is a God) Who is God?
3. If there is a god why do bad things happen?
4. Is there good and evil?
5. Can someone be all good or all bad?
6. Is everything predetermined or do we have the power to change our future?
7. Can we trust our emotions?
8. Is it better to be feared or loved?
9. Can people govern themselves?
10. Is the grass always greener on the other side?
11. What is progress?
12. How do we progress?
13. What is success?
14. How do we become successful?
15. What is the meaning of life?
16. What is your purpose in life?
17. Is someone more influenced by nature or nurture?
18. Do the ends justify the means?
19. Why do we go to college?
20. What is conversation?
21. What makes you special?
22. If you were an animal, what animal would you be?
23. What really defines a person?
24. If you could only ever see one person on earth who would it be?
25. If you were stranded on an island and could have three things, what would they be?
I had to throw one kind of funny one in there. Who's really going to be trapped on an island with only three things? I mean, come on.
In all seriousness, though, there are so many answers to these questions, no matter how many people you ask. Some people won't be able to answer them all. Some might have quick and well thought-out answers. Some people might have a full mental breakdown because they don't have an answer. Some might be totally surprised by the questions, but so happy to be able to give you their point of view. Some people will look out you strangely, wondering why you're asking them such an important questions when all they want is for you to give them their coffee. If you ever want to really get to know how someone else thinks, ask them some of these questions. Nothing tells you more about a person's state of mind then asking the really tough questions. Give it a try!
Have fun!
