25 Things That Really Confuse Me

Is it normal to be this confused?

To be honest, I am confused a lot. Maybe I abuse the phrase, "I'm confused", but most of the time it's true. I'm usually confused, or just dumb. I don't really know. Anyway, here are some things that confuse me regularly. Some things I just can't seem to wrap my head around. Please tell me that I am not alone. I can't seem to comprehend...

1. Why shopping at Walmart is far less socially acceptable by people my age than shopping at Target is.

2. Why some people don't drink hot coffee and only drink iced coffee.

3. Why some people don't drink coffee at all.

4. Why there are people that don't believe transgendered people deserve the same rights that cisgendered people have.

5. Why bras cost so much money.

6. Why the planet just doesn't fall.

7. Why my professors haven't kicked me out of class yet for asking ridiculous existential questions.

8. Why my friends still take me seriously as an adult while I discuss unicorns.

9. Why cars just can't drive themselves yet.

10. Why Kim Kardashian gets paid more money than I'll ever see in my life to just show up places.

11. Why no one taught me how life works while I was still in high school.

12. Why no one corrected me when I was certain that Oceanspray brand products were only sold at Ocean State Job Lot.

13. Why eating gluten-free has become a trend.

14. Why all jeans don't have elastic waistbands.

15. Why clothing designers think fake pockets are okay.

16. Why acne can't go away overnight.

17. Why wearing gray on gray is so wrong.

18. Why some people will order the most complicated thing on the Starbucks menu while only one barista is working and there are 20 people in line behind them.

19. Why nail polish chips so quickly.

20. Why some people think that being gay is wrong.

21. Why sexism is still going on in 2016.

22.Why bootcut jeans aren't in style anymore.

23. Why it was cool to attend and host sweet sixteen birthday parties at night clubs.

24. Why dogs dying in movies makes me more sad than people dying in movies.

25. Why shaving your legs once doesn't last forever.

I'm confused and I need answers. Maybe some of the things I am confused about don't deserve answers or don't have definite answers. At the least, please just reassure me that everyone is confused by at least five of these things too. Or else I may have to remove myself from society and start an underground world where I am confused in solitude.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
