25 Things Some People Don't Know About Star Wars

Apart from being an amazing story and having an immensely deep lore, the "Star Wars" movies have some fairly interesting stories behind their creation and filming. Since many of the feats achieved in the movies were ground-breaking, revolutionary, and just all-around awesome, it’s left a plethora of fascinating information and tidbits. While this is by no means a comprehensive or inclusive list of " Star Wars" Trivia, it is 25 of the more interesting pieces of information

.

Original Trilogy

1. Several scenes were deleted from "New Hope," most revolving around Luke watching the space battle from Tatooine and talking to some of his Tatooine friends about it

2. Darth Vader’s suit was originally supposed to be a spacesuit, so Vader could travel between the Star Destroyer and Princess Leia’s ship. However, it looked so cool that the film was changed so that Vader wore it throughout the film

3. Vader was played by multiple actors. David Prowse voiced him, Bob Anderson did his stunts, and Sebastian Shaw was inside the suit. Sebastian also acted as Anakin’s Force Ghost in the original cut of Episode VI.

4. Peter Cushing, who played Grand Moff Tarkin, wore slippers for much of the filming. Cushing found the shoes for his costume to be uncomfortable, so much of his shots were filmed form the waist-up

5. Mark Hamill was in a car crash between "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back." His face sustained scarring--therefore, the Wampa (you know, the abominable snowman monster thing) attack scene was inserted into the movie in order to explain why he had scars

6. Originally, there were scenes in "Empire" where Wampas attacked the Rebel base. Several Wampas were captured during the fighting, and placed in a room with a yellow sign on the door. During the escape from the Rebel base, C-3PO was going to remove a sign from one of the doors with wampas in it. A couple of stormtroopers opened the doors, and a wampa nabbed one of them, then they closed the door. You can still see the sign on the wampa door in the actual movie

7. “I know” was improvised Han was originally supposed to say “I love you, too,” but Harrison Ford felt that Han was too cool for that.

8. Boba Fett’s name wasn’t mentioned in any of the movies, though he was named in the infamous Holiday Special

9. The word “Ewok” isn’t mentioned in the movies, either. It is mentioned in two Ewok-centric movies and an Ewok animated TV series

10. As stated int he film, but usually ignored, the Ewok's homeworld is actually the moon of Endor. Endor itself is a gas giant, which can be seen in the moon's sky.

Prequel Trilogy

11. When approached for the role, Natalie Portman didn’t know the difference between "Star Wars" and "Star Trek."

12. At the end of "Phantom Menace’s" credits, Darth Vader’s iconic breathing can be heard.

13. Evan McGregor imitated Lightsaber noises while dueling

Force Awakens

14. Guinness and Evan McGregor reprised their roles in Episode VII. During Rey’s vision, Obi-Wan’s voice can be heard, saying “Rey, these are your first steps.” One of Alec Guinness’ lines was cut so that the syllable “Rey” was left. Then, Ewan McGregor recorded “These are your first steps,” putting together the line

15. The original script called for more screen time from Luke. However, whenever he appeared, people stopped caring about Rey and Finn and only cared about Luke, so the story was re-written.

16. Finn’s Stormtrooper number is the same as Leia’s cell block number- 2187. The number is a reference to a 1964 film called “21-87,” which inspired Lucas.

17. The music that plays during Supreme Leader Snoke’s scene is very similar to the music heard in "Revenge of the Sith" when Palpatine tells Anakin about Darth Plagueis, fueling speculation that Snoke and Plagueis are the same person

18. Luke’s training remote makes an appearance as Finn is searching through the Millennium Falcon’s equipment to help Chewie

19. Poe Dameron’s name was based on JJ Abram’s production assistant Morgan Dameron, and his first name is from Morgan’s daughter’s stuffed panda bear, Po

20. BB-8 was based on early concept art for R2-D2

21. Carrie Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, makes an appearance in the Rebel’s base

22. As of right now, it is the third-highest grossing film of all time, behind "Titanic" and "Avatar."

Misc

23. R2-D2 and C-3PO where guest stars on "Sesame Street." The episode involved, I kid you not, a UFO and R2 falling in love with a fire hydrant.

24. Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew, and the droids also appeared on "The Muppet Show"

25. In every single Phase II Marvel Movie ("Iron Man 3" through "Ant-Man") a character looses an arm. This is an intentional reference to "Empire Strikes Back."

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
