Thank you for everything Mom and Dad, even if I don't say it enough (which I know I don't).

Happy 25th Anniversary Mom and Dad! I hope you have the best day. Here's some reasons why I love you both as my parents and why I'm thankful for you (which I don't say enough).

1. They love my siblings and I unconditionally (most of the time).

2. They balance their crazy lives with ours and try to stay up to date with our schedules.

3. They give us the world especially when we were growing up (who wants to drive three children every single place on earth?).

4. They packed so many lunches and sports bags for us in our earlier days, thanks for making sure we had a balanced diet.

5. They cook the best food and make sure we all have dinner together whenever we can.

6. They answer our phone calls and text messages to hear our never ending lists of problems.

7. They bring up stupid, little things from the past to low key (or high key) make sure we never forget them (and continue to learn from them, I guess).

8. They taught us (specifically me) how to pump gas and more basic skills we will need in life.

9. They always encourage us to go after our goals.

10. They sacrifice their lives for us to make sure we have the best opportunities and experiences possible.

11. They listened to our crappy instrument practices for a long time.

12. They push us when we need it and motivate us.

13. They keep tabs on us (even when we think it's annoying), but in the end, it's for the better.

14. They buy us little, thoughtful gifts just to make our days a little bit better.

15. They give us some money when we need it - thanks, we honestly appreciate that so much.

16. They tuck us into bed or check up on us to make sure we never go to bed upset or angry.

17. They take us on little adventures - things they know that only we would like.

18. They try to balance the likes and dislikes of all three of us (that's pretty much impossible).

19. They drove us to our friends' houses all the time (and made sure their parents were home of course).

20. They established traditions with us that we will hopefully carry on to our future families.

21. They played with us when we were kids and continue to deal with our silliness.

22. They care for us no matter what sickness we have (and sometimes it can get pretty ugly).

23. They praise us when we've done well.

24. They make stupid jokes to impress your friends (mostly aimed at Dad).

25. They serve as great examples of marriage for my siblings and I when we possibly marry our significants others down the road.

Thank you for everything Mom and Dad, even if I don't say it enough (which I know I don't). You've taught me so much, and for that, I am forever grateful.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
