Someone very special to me is turning 25 years old on Tuesday, May 17 -- someone that I am lucky enough to call my big sister.

Kitty,

There are so many words I could say but we both know how I am with emotions. Please know that I am so beyond proud of everything you have done and everything you have become. I know we don't agree on a lot but I truly believe that is what makes our relationship stronger. You have truly become such a wonderful woman. Something I never expected from you in our life, is for you to move across the world but nevertheless I think that this is very brave of you. I think you are going to make some of the best memories of your life and I am only jealous I can't be by your side to experience Cali with you. Since we have always said that I have always been the "big" sister, here are 25 things I want you to remember as you start this next chapter of your life.

1. Remember who you are.

2. Remember where you came from.

3. Remember things always have to get worse before they will get better.

4. Remember that it is never too late or too early to change the things you don't like about yourself.

5. Remember that coffee is always a good idea.

6. Remember that you are a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for.

7. Remember that the sun will always go down and the next day is a new day with new opportunities.

8. Remember that I will always answer the phone, no matter what. (even when you think I won't)

9. Remember that money does not buy anything of true value.

10. Remember that it is okay to let toxic people go. Life is too short to be around negative people who don’t have your best interest at heart.

11. Remember that family is the most important thing in this world.

12. Remember that a good meal is always important.

13.Remember to always be humble and kind.

14. Remember that comparing yourself to others does nothing but hurt you. You are you and you are beautiful.

15. Remember that life will always go on.

16. Remember that time is precious. Do not waste your time on things that do not better you or make you happy.

17. Remember that nobody owes you anything.

18. Remember that failing is okay-- as long as you learn from it.

19. Remember that self confidence and self love is the best accessory a female can have, besides a smile.

20. Remember that being healthy is just as important as being happy.

21. Remember that you will never be able to please everyone.

22.Remember that forgiveness is always necessary and forgetting is just stupid.

23. Remember that you should never be afraid to stick up for yourself or what you believe in.

24. Remember that you should appreciate and love yourself every day -- you will always be beautiful at every age.

25. Remember that I love you and I am your biggest fan.

I hope that 25 is a year that brings you all the love and happiness the world has to offer. No matter how much we disagree I will always be here for you because you are my sister and I could not do life without you. Cheers!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
