1. Making friends takes a little more effort than it did when we were little. Everything comes out so awkwardly now, and nobody is impressed by your 64 box of crayons.
2. Even though class attendance isn't mandatory, it might as well be. One missed class and you're lost forever.
3. Talking to your roommate is necessary. It's hard living with another person that is basically a stranger for the first couple of weeks. Talk and work out differences so that the room doesn't become a battleground.
4. Get a planner. Your schedule is going to be ridiculously full. Without a calendar to jot everything down on, you're probably going to miss that 6 o'clock meeting with that foodies group on campus that you were so excited about.
5. Don't avoid your dorm lounge. You get so busy with day to day activities, the lounge is the perfect place to meet new people that you wouldn't have met otherwise.
6. Meet with your advisors. Make sure you have a plan. You don't want to end up stuck taking classes that don't benefit your degree plan.
7. Don't forget your clothes when you take a shower. The walk of shame back to your room wrapped in a towel is never fun.
8. Set more than one alarm. Odds are, you'll sleep through the first one.
9. Schedule your classes in a way that leaves you with a lunch break. Going to class on an empty stomach is miserable.
10. Popcorn should always be in stock. Popcorn is the one snack that is good at any time of the day. It's also low in calories and keeps you full.
11. Get a work-study or part time job. The extra money will come in handy, and working a couple of hours a week is not bad at all.
12. Take your clothes out of the wash when they're done or someone else will do it for you. Your wet clothes will end up hanging out in a pile somewhere in the laundry room.
13. Say hi. That guy or girl who you see everywhere could end up being a great friend.
14. STUDY. It seems like a no-brainer, but the more you put off studying, the more it'll catch up to you. You don't want to be the one cramming everything into your brain before the exam.
15. All-nighters can be avoided. If you manage your time well and spread out your studying, you should get enough sleep to function the next day.
16. It's okay to fail. It's more than likely that you're going to fail a quiz or exam, but that does not mean that you're going to fail the class. It may not even affect your letter grade. You're actually more likely to learn from an F than an A.
17. The freshman fifteen is real. There is food EVERYWHERE, from free food at school events to the pizza and mozzarella sticks in the cafeteria. Eat in moderation and don't forget your greens every once in a while.
18. Find a study group. Studying alone can be productive, but studying with a group allows you to see the material through different eyes.
19. Look at your syllabus. It makes planning and scheduling flights for the holidays so much easier.
20. Go out on a Thursday night. If you only have one class the next day, do it.
21. Use sticky notes. Those things come in handy with reminders, and you cant stick them on your mirror.
22. Don't forget your umbrella. If the weather says that there's going to be flash floods, there will probably be flash floods.
23. Go dancing. Who cares if you don't know how to two step? You'll learn!
24. Find an outlet. Whether it's exercise or journaling, it's always beneficial to have something to do to relax your mind.
25. Be a good friend. The people you meet in college are going to impact your life one way or another, make sure you impact theirs as well.
