We look forward to summer all year! When it finally does come we feel like we have to be doing something 24/7 in order to not waste summer. But, there are simple things we tend to take for granted during summer.

1. No School

One of the best parts of summer is having no school. No homework, no lectures, and no 8 am classes... unless you have summer school.

2. Music

The music on the radio seems to always get more upbeat during the summer. New songs come out that just make you feel alive and want to have a good time.

3. Concerts

Country concerts, rock concerts, and pop concerts. The best concerts always are during the summer.

4. Barbecue's

Summer's are notorious for hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill.

5. Flip Flips

Flip flops are the closest thing to running around barefoot.

6. Being with Friends

Hanging out with friends all day and all night during the summer is one of the best ways to spend the summer.

7. Hammocks

The perfect spot to take a nap and kick back and relax.

8. Being Outside

Hot weather, sunshine, and nature. The perfect summer trifecta.

9. Ice Cream

Hot summer day is only made better with ice cream.

10. Rain

A cool summer rain makes everything fresh again.

11. Tanning

Say good-bye to the pale skin and hello to sun kissed skin.

12. Fresh Fruit

Everything seems to taste a little sweeter in summer.

13. Fourth of July

It seems as if everyone is as patriotic as the founding fathers. Fireworks blowing grass off lawns and setting off car alarms, while everyone is drinking red, white, and blue booze.

14. Farmers Markets

Farmer's markets are a summer staple. You can get anything from fruit and vegetables to tamales.

15. Pools

The best way to cool off in the summer is a dip in the pool. Besides the usual water activities, you can also get a great tan.

16. A Cool Summer Breeze

Nothing beats the wind in your hair.

17. Bonfires

Simple way to end a summer night is with friends around a bonfire with blankets telling stories.

18. Sunshine

19. Going to the Beach

A summer day spent at the beach is a day well spent.

20. Eating Outside

Restaurants with outdoor eating are a must in the summer. Food and sunshine.

21. The food- fresh corn, watermelon, cherries...

Freshly grown and as sweet as can be during the summer.

23. Festivals

Festivals upon festivals during the summer. Great rides, great food, and great friends.

24. Driving With Your Windows Down

One of the simples pleasures to enjoy during the summer is the wind in your hair with the radio up. Never forget just to take it all in.

25. Good Vibes

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
